Abstract | The article deals with different types of seizures which can occur during dental treatment. Most people with epilepsy attain good control of their seizures and are capable of receiving routine dental care. Gingival enlargement is one of the most significant oral side effects of antiepileptic therapy with phenytoin. Some treatment decisions can be affected by the likelihood of seizures. It is better to provide the patient with a fixed prosthesis than with a removable appliance which can be dislodged during a seizure. Some types of seizures and other complications associated with local anaesthesia are discussed. | |
