Abstract     This prospective study on cholepats was made in order to find out more about the changes on papilla of Vater and the width of the common bile duct through endoscopic ultrasound (EUZ) examining. The investigation included fifty patients with symptomatic cholecystolithiasis and early postoperative difficulties. The measurement were done before the operation (AOP), three months after the operation (POP 3) and six months after the operation (POP 6). The measurement of the height of papila of Vater (HPV) has the mediab values of 9 mm in the preoperated AOP group, 10 mm three months after the operation in POP 3 group, and 8,5 mm 6 months after the operation in POP 6 group. The width of papila of Vater is 17 mm in preoperated AOP group, 18 mm three months later in POP 3 hroup and 16 mm six months months later in POP 6 group. The surface of papila of Vater was calculated according to the height and width. The surface of papila of Vater is 63 mm2 in preoperated AOP group, 68,5 mm2 three months later in POP 3 group and 51,5 mm2 six months later in POP 6 group. According to the data from the literature normal papila of Vater has a surface of 20 to 35 mm2. In the patients with biliary disease papila of Vater is two to three times bigger than normal. The difference between H1 (Mucous + Muscularis Mucous) of ampulocholedochal segment of the height of papila of Vater AOP and H1 AOP and H1 POP 3 is highly significant (p<0,05). Sphincter of Oddi complex is situated in H1. The result that is extremely important is that there are no significant differences between H2 (Sub Mucous + Muscularis Propria) of duodeno papillar segment of the height of papila of Vater AOP and H2 POP 3 (p>0.005). Sphincter of Oddi complex was visible in preoperated AOP group 53%, three months later in POP 3 72% and six months later in POP 6 60%. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
