Abstract		The article discusses four species of Plasmodium parasites, which cause the most widespread and frequent disease in tropical and subtropical areas, malaria. The life cycle of parasites in humans where the parasites multiply asexually and the life cycle in the vector-female anopheline mosquito - where the parasites multiply sexually - are also discussed.
Summary		V članku so prikazane štiri vrste plazmodijev, ki povzročajo v tropskih in subtropskih krajih eno izmed najbolj razširjenih in pogostih bolezni, malarijo. Prikazan je tudi njihov življenjski krog v človeku, kjer se paraziti razmnožujejo na nespolen način in življenjski krog v prenašalcu - komarju, kjer se paraziti razmnožujejo spolno.
