Abstract     The pericervical ring of lymph nodes at the junction of the head and neck includes submental, submandibular; facial, parotid, retroauricular, occipital and retropharyngeal groups of lymph nodes. Lymph nodes of the neck form descending chains along the front and sides of the neck. Anterior and lateral superficial cervical lymph riodes lie upon the superficial layer of the deep fascia of the neck, following the course of the anterior and external jugular vein. Juxtavisceral chain of lymph nodes lies in relationship to the larynx, thyroid gland and tracheoesophageal groove, deep to the pretracheal layer of the deep fascia of the neck. Deep lateral cervical lymph nodes form chains along the internal jugular vein and along the žeccessory nerve. Deep lateral cervical lymph nodes are the terminal group for the head and neck region.
