Abstract | Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) is wellestablished method in diagnosing palpable masses of the neck. Among them are also cysts, true cysts or cystic degenerated lesions: Between January 1999 and September 2000; 293 FNAs of neck lesions (without thyroid lesions) were performed at our, department. Forty (14%) were cystic lesions, among this 15 branchial cleft cysts, 8 thyroglossal duct cysts, 5 cystic degenerated metastases of squamous cell carcinoma, 4 retention cysts of submandibular gland, 3 abscesses, 3 epidermal cysts, 1 cystic hygroma and 1 ganglion, respectively. | |
