Abstract     Eventhough extraneural metastases of central nervous system malignant tumors occur rarey, they are well documented in the literature. The most frequently metastasizing tumor is glioblastoma, followed by meduloblastoma, ependymoma, astrocytoma and, oligodendroglioma which is the rarest tumor with extraneural metastases. While craniotomy tumor resection, radiotherapy and/or shunt operations have been blamed for extracranial seeding, a few cases of remote metastases of primay brain tumor in the absence of any previous surgical manipulation are reported. Lymph nodes of the neck at the same side of craniotomy are, after lungs, the most frequent site of metastases of malignant brain tumors. We report the case of 54-year old female with malignant oligodendroglioma who developed metastases in the ipsilateral neck lymph nodes 12 months after craniotomy and complete resection of the brain tumor.
