Abstract | Today, literature and the natural sciences are rarely linked but in past centuries both basked pleasantly and together in the sun's light. The English polymath Humphry Davy (1778-1829), who in Prešeren's time (1819-1828) lived for three longer periods in Podkoren (N Slovenia), wrote on Slovene parts and the characteristics of Proteus anguinus in his book, "Consolations in Travel"; while a hundred years ago the natural scientist Pavel Grošelj determined the influence of the Italian poet Francesco Petrarca on Prešeren. | |
