Abstract		The significance and a general overview of informatics in health care is presented in the article. It is defined as a new special domain of health care originating from health care documentation. More important steps of development of this recent science area are mentioned: Telenursing, Telenurse, ICPN and Computer Informafion System of Public Health Care. The importance of information refrieval from the ever more important source of information retrieval - internet is stressed, and the need for gaining of new knowledges from the informatics domain in health care, as well as the need for training of nurses specialized on this domain. The significance of the protection of information and of data referring to the patient resp. protg is also mentioned.
Summary		V članku sta predstavljena pomen in splošni pregled informatike v zdravstveni negi. Opredeljuje jo kot novo specialno področje zdravstvene nege, ki izhaja iz dokumentacije zdravstvene nege. Omenjeni so tudi pomembnejši koraki v razvoju te mlade vede: projekti Telenursing, Telenurse, ICNP in Računalniški informacijski sistem patronažne zdravstvene nege. Poudarjena je pomembnost pridobivanja informacij iz danes vedno bolj pomembnega vira pridobivanja informacij - interneta ter izražena potreba po pridobivanju novih znanj s področja informatike v zdravstveni negi kot tudi potreba po medicinskih sestrah specialistkah na tem področju. Omenjen je tudi pomen varovanja informacij in podatkov, ki se nanašajo na bolnika oz. varovanca.
