Abstract     184 children at pre-school were randomly sampled to following examinations: anamnesis, oral clinical examination and oronasal functions. Of the basic sample 84 pupils were selected to analyse their casts, lateral x-ray and the otorhinolaryngologist's diagnoses. Results show high frequency of atipical swallowing, mouth breathing, sucking habits and their significant correlation with malocclusions. Children with lip competence experienced less respiratory diseases in pre-school time in comparison with lip incompetence children (p<0.001). Efforts for the correct development of child's orofacial system should be included during period of pregnancy and just after the delivery
