| Abstract | Within the discrete phenomenological model of antiferroelectric liquid crystals we calculate the structure of the SmCalpha phase in free standing film consisting of N smectic layers. A temperature evolution of the structure is determined for an example of the bulk SmA - SmCalpha - SmC phase sequence. | |
