Abstract     The effects of cerivastatin or fenofibrat therapy on macrocirculatory and microcirculatory endothelium dependent and independent vasodilatation were studied. Thirty-eight men with combined hyperlipidemia entered the study and were randomized in two groups. After 12 weeks of therapy with either cerivastatin or fenofibrat macrocirculatory endothelium dependent and independent vasodilatation increased significantly. Cerivastatin caused significantly greater increase in endothelium dependent vasodilatation as compared to fenofibrat. On the contrary, no statistically significant change was observed in the microcirculation with either cerivastatin or fenofibrat therapy.
