Abstract		Indications for the examination of the gastrointestinal tract in children, particularly in infants, and the techniques of these examinations are often very different from those of adults. Significant morbidity and, indeed, mortality can results from a careless or improperly performed technical procedure. The paper presents gastroenterological investigations: upper and lower endoscopy, sonography, intestinal biopsy, esophageal pH monitoring, manometry, breath tests, imaging procedures, microbiological and laboratory studies. Special emphasis is put on the signiphicances of individual examinations in the diagnostic procedure and their correlation of the laboratory investigations in children with gastrointestinal diseases.
Summary		Indikacije za preiskave gastrointestinalnega trakta, kakor tudi tehnike, ki se uporabljaljo v ta namen se pri otrocih in odraslih pogosto razlikujejo. Nepravilno opravljene preiskave rezultirajo pri otrocih z znatno večjo možnostjo za poškodbe in ne nazadnje smrti. V prispevku so prikazane gastroenterološke preiskave: zgomja in spodnja endoskopija, ultrazvok trebuha, biopsije, 24-urna pH metrija, manometrija, dihalni testi, rentgenološke preiskave, mikrobiološke ter laboratorijske preiskave. Povdarjena je vrednost posameznih preiskav v diagnostičnem postopku in njihova korelacija z laboratorijskimi preiskavami pri otrocih z boleznimi prebavil.
