Abstract     The aim of this investigation was to examine the hypothesis about the significance of gastric juice in protection of organism from various nosologic entities. We have determined catalytic concentrations of AST, ALT, CK, LDH, ALP, CGT, as well as concentration of area and creatinine in gastric juice of the selected groups of patients too. The selection of patients was done on the basis of the generally accepted logical and clinical criteria, which would enable too qualify and quantify the degree of stress, respectively patients imperilled conditions from benign states (disc hernia, gastritis) then risk states (cholclithitiasis, acute pancreatitis, tumour) and vitally dangerous situations (trauma, acute abdomen). Enzymatic values in gastric juice of patients with disc hernia and gastritis are low, and reciprocally differ one from and another, and are low in relation to all the other investigated groups. Enzymatic values in patients with cholelithiasis, pancreatits and tumor are higher, then in the first two groups of patients, and significantly lower then in those ones with trauma and acute abdomen. The highest catalytic enzymatic concentrations were obtained in patients with trauma and acute abdomen.
