Abstract		Information on plant and animal species, plant associations and habitats is becoming an increasingly important part of a public informational system. Thus, it is only sensible to collect classic data collections, registers, data scattered in books, herbariums, zoologic collections, in maps and field notes into a generalized biological informational system, such as exist in developed countries. The Slovene biological database has been developed step by step since 1987 and some applications are already in place. Workers from the Biological Institute ZRC SAZU along with an outside programmer have developed the FIoVegSi sytem to collect data and handle floristic, vegetational, and faunal information under the Microsoft SQL Server. The user interface and work with data are written in Microsoft Access in Microsoft Visual Basic.
