Abstract		The authors define seizures and status epilepticus in adults and present the classification of various types of this disorder. The probable etiology depends on the patient's age and the type of seizure. First aid for seizures is very important and the paper describes an approach to patients with seizure. Time is the critical factor in the treatment of status epilepticus. Treatment should proceed in a rapid and organized manner. The paper outlines the recommended method for the management of status epilepticus. It is intended for mountain rescuers and mountain rescuer doctors who may encounter persons with seizures in the mountains.
Summary		V članku avtor opredeli osnovne pojme: epileptični napad in epilepsija. Opisana je razvrstitev različnih oblik epileptičnih napadov ter najpogostejši vzroki zanje, v različnih starostnih obdobjih. Pomembna je pravilna prva pomoč osebi z epileptičnim napadom, prav tako pa tudi pravilni pristop in terapevtski ukrep zdravnika. Podane so smernice zdravljenja epileptičnega statusa. Članek je namenjen gorskim reševalcem in zdravnikom gorskim reševalcem, ki se srečajo z epileptičnim napadom v gorah.
