Abstract		The history and new knowledge of rotator cuff rupture are presented in this review. Commonly used classificafion systems according to the extent of the tear, its topography, retraction and tissue qualify. The Constant rating system used extensively on an international basis is presented in detail among fhe shoulder evaluation tools.
