Abstract		Early medical rehabilitation (EMR) after operative treatment of the patients with the fears of the rotator cuff is presented in this article. The importance of EMR for avoiding the life threatening postoperafive complications and for the successful end result, which means normal function of the shoulder, is pointed out. The goal of EMR at discharge from the hospital is to achieve the mobility, which enables the patient to continue successful medical rehabilitation on the out-patient basis. The important role of the surgeon in the rehabilitation team is accentuated. The data, the surgeon ls due to present and which are inevitable for the creation of adequate rehabilitation programme, are stated. The characteristics of the tear, the choice and technique of the operation, the quality of the tissue, the age and psycho-physical condition of the patient and his motivation for successful rehabilitation are the most important facts, upon which the rehabilitation programme is based. The importance of planning realistic goals of EMR is pointed out.
