Abstract		The author explains mainly rheumatic inflammatory reasons for shoulder pain. The frequency of arthritis of shoulder joints in different inflammatory rheumatic diseases is described, if is described in osteoarthritis as well, where mild inflammatory changes appear and are not the leading pathology. Primarily the clinical signs, symptoms and inflammatory changes of shoulder joints, diagnostic procedures and treatment in rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative spondyloarthropathies, crystal deposi- tion diseases, polymyalgia rheumatica and in osteoarthritis are listed and discussed. The other reasons of shoulder pain, such as tendinitis, bursitis, referred pain or pain due to trauma, overuse, anatomical changes and subluxation are not included in the article.
