Abstract | Post-polio syndrome is a neurologic disorder characterized by increased weakness and abnormal muscle fatiguability in individuals who had poliomyelitis many years earlier. Diagnosis set only by patients history and clinical picture is not always trustworthy. Measurement of muscular strength and endurance with hand-held or isometric dinamometer can help us to get objective results. Tenziomiography is a newly developed method, where patients feeling of tiredness does not influence the examination of muscular endurance. Objective evaluation of muscular strength and endurance with patients after poliomyelitis is important for prescribing relevant exercises and physical activity. Namely, additional destruction of moto-neuron units can be caused by overuse of already affected muscles. | |
