Abstract		There has been a prohibition of production and transport of asbestos products in Slovenia since 1996. As elsewhere around the world the same questions arise as how to eliminate asbest from buildings and equipment where it was used as isolation. When there is demolition, improvement or maintenance work there is usually high concentration of asbestos fibres emitted in the air. As it is not possible to ensure the permitted borderline concentration due to the development of working techniques it is necessary to ensure safe work to the workers with health safety measures. The ship reparations and asbestos elimination work at the Izola shipyard is part of the demolition, improvement and maintenance work and raises the questions which need to be answered in the shortest time possible. The present way of working and workers safety does not enable the safety from exposure to asbestos fibres exceeding the permitted amount.
Summary		V Sloveniji velja prepoved proizvodnje in prometa z azbestom od leta 1996 dalje. Kot v drugih državah, se tudi pri nas srečujemo z vprašanjem odstranjevanja azbesta iz zgradb in naprav, v katerih je bil kot izolacijsko sredtsvo uporabljen azbest. Pri izvajanju rušilnih, sanacijskih in vzdrževalnih del se praviloma sproščajo visoke koncentracije azbestnih vlaken. Ker se dovoljenih mejnih vrednosti koncentracij glede na razvoj tehnike pri delu ne da doseči, je treba delavcem z ukrepi za ohranjanje zdravja zagotoviti varno delo. Tudi popravila ladij in odstranjevanje azbesta iz ladij v izolski ladjedelnici spadajo k rušilnim, sanacijskim in vzdrževalnim delom in so problem, ki ga bomo morali rešiti v najkrajšem času. Sedanji način dela in varnosti namreč ne zagotavlja delavcem, da ne bodo izpostavljeni koncentracijam azbestnih vlaken, ki presegajo dovoljene vrednosti.
