Abstract     Alzheimer's disease affects numerous brain functions and has neuropsychological, psychiatric, and neurological manifestations. Behavioral and psychiatric symptoms are common in Alzheimer's disease. During the course of the illness patients manifest apathy, agitation, depressive symptoms, delusions, hallucinations, irritability, desinhibition and purposeless motor activity. Behavioral and psychiatric symptoms of Alzheimer's dementia are major reasons for institutionalization and reduced quality of life of patients and caregivers alike.
