Abstract		The authors isolated and identificated Borrelia garinii spirochetes from ticks of Ixodes ricinus species, gathered in different parts of Slovenia and which were then subsequently used to invade laboratory mice (Mus musculus). Isolation was done in BSKH medium containing 6 % of rabbit serum. Two isolates were obtained from ticks (20 %) and one indirectly from mouse (11 %). In all cases the Borrelia garinii was isolated. In the present study the method of pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) after restriction of genomic DNA with Mlu I was applied for identification of species. PFGE was also performed for the presentation of plasmide profile.
Summary		Avtorja sta opravila izolacijo in identifikacijo spirohet lymske borelioze iz klopov vrste 1. ricinus, nabranih na različnih območjih Slovenije. Z njimi sta invadirala laboratorijske miši (Mus musculus) ter poizkusila izolirati borelije iz njihovih organov. Izolacija je bila opravljena v gojišču BSKH (Sigma, St. Louis, ZDA), z dodatkom kunčjega seruma (6 %). Uspešno sta bila izolirana dva izolata iz klopov (20 %) in eden posredno iz miši (11 %). V vseh treh primerih so bili izolati borelij vrste B. garinii. Za identifikacijo sta uporabila elektroforezo v utripajočem električnem polju (PFGE), po restrikciji z encimom Mlu I. Prikazala sta še plazmidni profil izolatov z metodo PFGE.
