Abstract     In 1995 the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Ljubljana founded a DNA laboratory that successfully performs DNA analysis in the matters of questionable paternity. From 1998 their other task was analysis of biological trace from criminal acts according to the order of the Constitutional court of the Republic of Slovenia. They interpreted that this kinds of tests, especially when concerning heavier criminal acts (murders, thefts, grand thefts), shouldn't be performed by the DNA laboratoriy at the Ministry of internal affairs. In the following contribution the author is trying to present the experience of their demanding work in DNA laboratory and delineates it with an interesting case report.
