Abstract     The case of a fatal gunshot wound to the thorax and its characteristics are described. It occurred through the activation of a short-barrel firearm in direct proximity and at a sharp angle to the victim's body. An accurate description of the areas of damage caused by the shot, the shape, size and additional factors of the gunshot wound, the direction of the shot, and determination of the circumstances of the event all lead to correct findings.
