Abstract     The prognostic value of tumour and serum concentrations of cathepsins D, B, H, and L, stefins A and B, and cystatin C were evaluated in squamous carcinoma of the head. The risk of disease recurrence was significantly higher (P<0.05) in patients with low tumour concentrations of stefins A, B or cystatin C. For cathepsins, the survival results were either not conclusive (cathepsins H, L) or not significant (cathepsins B, D). Of the serum concentrations, only that of cathepsin L appeared to be of prognostic value.
Summary     V raziskavi smo poskušali ovrednotiti napovedno vrednost katepsinov D, B, H in L, stefinov A in B ter cistatina C pri ploščatoceličnem karcinomu glave in vratu.
