Abstract     Atherosclerosis is the most common cause of symptomatic obstruction in the peripheral arterial tree. The pathophysiological basis of this entity Is identical to that which occurs in coronary artery. The associated risk factors are also the same. Most patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOB) can be managed with good case history, physical inspection and with Doppler probe. Coronary and noncoronary vessels require the same treatment modalities. Therapeutic options include conservative measures, percutaneous interventions and surgery.
