Abstract		Atherosclerosis is accelerated in patients with chronic renal failure and cardiovascular morality is 10 to 20 times higher than in general population. Prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in patients with chronic renal failure, in patients with end-stage renal failure treated with dialysis and in transplant patients is presented: Well known and less established risk factors are also presented. Patients with chronic renal failure exhibit a number of coexisting risk factors which are additive.
