Abstract		Syndrome X is a metabolic syndrome. Patients with syndrome X are characterised by obesity, resistance to insulin and hyperinsulinemia, dyslipidemia, and blood pressure elevation. The major features of syndrome X are increased atherogenic risk and the risk of coronary artery disease. In addition to that, fibrinolysis is impaired. It has be emphasised that because of the syndrome's multiple pathogenetic causes its treatment should be complex and directed to each single cause.
