Abstract     Adopting client-centred practice in occupational therapy means putting more emphasis on the client-therapist relationship. Building this relationship starts with their first encounter usually designed by the therapist in the form of an interview. Through this interview the therapist strives to create an atmosphere of mutual trust, communication and partnership. The aim of this paper is dual: to review some approaches to interviewing in recent occupational therapy theory and to review the role of interviewing among Slovenian occupational therapists. In its first section the paper presents three approaches to interviewing as introduced by some renowned occupational therapy authors through their models of practice. The second section of the paper consists of presenting and analysing the questionnaire on interviewing answered by an important portion of the Slovenian occupational therapists population. The discussion offers an evaluation of the state-of-the-art and guidelines for the future development of occupational therapy interviewing in Slovenia.
