Abstract     Blunt trauma to subclavian artery is rare. In the last three years, the authors treated three trauma victims with such an injury. All three cases are described in the following article. All three patients had in common: injury to the a. subclavia, fracture of clavicle or injury to the sternoelavicular syndesmosis, ipsilateral chest injury, big swelling or haemathoma between neck and shoulder and concomitant ruptures of lungs. Additionally all three had injured other organ systems. All three died during emergency management, the leading cause of death being fatal bleeding. In author's opinion the transportation time considering circumstances was satisfying and diagnostic procedures taking relatively too much time. Anyway it's debatable, if any of the described patients could be saved due to age, chronic diseases or combination of injuries.
