Abstract     In Slovenia, intection by C. trachomatis regarded as a sexually transmitted disease, is still an unsolved health problem. The course of infection is usually asymptomatic and most frequently recognised when the signs of the disaese are already present. It is estimated around 6% of healthy population to be infected by C, trachomatis. On the basis of the sexually transmitted diseases Registry data the reported incidence rate accounts only 3.9 out of 100 000 inhabitants. This demonstrates the infection with C. trachomatis being rarely recognised and accordingly treated. Furthermore, domestic literature regarding l. trachomatis infection is not abundant. The article presents the most important findings of domestic authors, who had published their work regarding C trachomatis infections in the literature.
