Abstract		The increasing number of road accidents imposes new tasks and demands on everybody dealing with this issue. At the scene of a traffic accident an expert in forensic medicine can obtain essential information which can help him in his work to make a correct and objective assessment of the whole situation and approach a possible autopsy in a different way. By presenting a concrete example of a hit-and-run road accident, the authors point out the deficiencies which in later expert work were the key issue in the objective and expert assessment of all the evidence produced.
