Abstract     In road accidents the chest can be injured through direct or indirect impact of force. Injuries can be classified as blunt or sharp, and closed or open ones. Injury can occur in any part of the chest wall (muscles, bones), any organ of chest (lungs, heart, big vessels, oesophagus, trachea) or in the diaphragm with hemiation of abdominal viscera into the pleural cavity. In emergency treatment we combat shock and respiratory decompensation. After emergency measured have been taken, transport to emergency surgical unit is required.
