Abstract | A single channel microprocessor based electrical stimulator was developed. It is aimed for home training of walking in incomplete spinal cord injured patients after they are released from the rehabilitation center. Three regimes of functional electrical stimulation can be used in order to improve the swing phase of walking: peroneal stimulation, stimulation of ankle plantar flexors, and dermatome stimulation. The stimulator is voluntarily controlled by the patient through a hand pushbutton built into the handle of the crutch and through a wireless link connected to the stimulator attached to the lower leg. | |
