Abstract     The article discusses the problematics of appropriate selection and evaluation of the selection of assistive technology used by severely physically disabled persons for their work on a personal computer. The object of selection is technical equipment that allows the user to work on a personal computer without employing his or her hands. The selection includes technical solutions that enable the use of a personal computer mainly by means of head movements or voice. In the process of deciding, the program tool DEX (Decision Expert) is used, which is an expert system shell intended for solving multi-attribute decision-making problems. The article gives an evaluation of the outcome as well as describes the entire methodology of the decision process. The difference between the described decision process and the traditional intuitive one is in the systematic approach of the former, which is supported by means of a program tool from the field of artificial intelligence.
