Abstract     Modulated Temperature Diffeiential Scanning Calorimetry (mtDSC) is recently developed extension of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The heat flow into and out of a sample is being measured while both sample and reference (usually empty pan) are subjected to a modulated temperture program: the usual linear rise or fall in temperature is disturbed by a sinusoidal perturbation. A Fourier transformation is applied to the resultant data and the sample response is converted into reversing and non-reversing component. In this way the amount of information that can be obtained is substantionally increased, thus the interpretation of results is easier and of higher quality. The advantages include the separation of overlapping phenomena, the ability of enhancing sensitivity for detection of subtle transitions without loss of resolution, the possibility of measuring heat capacity in single experiment and the evaluation of the thermal conductivity.
Summary     Diferenčna dinamična kalorimetrija z modulacijo temperature (mtDSC) je nadgradnja klasične diferenčne dinamične kalorimetrije (DSC). Vzorec in referenco (običajno prazen lonček) izpostavimo moduliranemu temperaturnemu programu. To je kombinacija običajne linearne temperaturne spremembe in dodatne sinusoidne motnje. Merimo odziv vzorca t.j. toplotni tok v oz. iz materiala. Rezultat meritve s Fourierjevo transformacijo pretvorimo v reverzibilno in ireverzibilno komponento. Na ta način dobimo znatno več informacij o vzorcu, interpretacija rezultatov pa je zato lažja in bolj kakovostna. Prednosti metode so predvsem možnost ločevanja procesov, ki se v vzorcu pojavljajo v istih temperaturnih inteivalih, boljša občutljivost za detekcijo šibkih prehodov brez izgube ločljivosti, merjenje toplotne kapacitete v enem eksperimentu in določitev toplotne prevodnosti.
