Abstract		The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between some morphological parameters and the performance in javelin throw on a representative sample of young European javelin throwers. The sample encompassed 12 female and 11 male finalists at the Athletic European Junior Championships (MEPA 1997). All morphological measurements were carried out immediately after the competition according to standard biological programme (SPB). The achievement in javelin throw represented the criterion variable. Basic statistics, correlation analysis, and a reduced potential model of performance in the space of morphological variables were applied. The model was evaluated by means of expert modelling. It was found out that the correlation between morphological variables and the performance in javelin throwing is not statistically significant at the 5% level of risk both, with male and female juniors.
Summary		Namen naloge je bil ugotoviti povezanost nekaterih morfoloških parametrov z uspešnostjo meta kopja pri reprezentativnem vzorcu mladih evropskih metalk in metalcev. Vzorec merjencev je zajel 12 finalistk in 11 finalistov mladinskega evropskega prvenstva v atletiki (MEPA, 1997). Vse morfološke meritve smo opravili takoj po končanem tekmovanju v skladu s standardnim biološkim programom (SPB). Kriterijsko spremenljivko je predstavljal rezultat v metu kopja. Od statističnih metod smo uporabili osnovno statistiko, korelacijsko analizo in reduciran potencialni model uspešnosti v prostoru morfoloških spremenljivk. Model smo ovrednotili s pomočjo ekspertnega modeliranja. Ugotovili smo, da povezanost med morfološkimi spremenljivkami in rezultatom v metu kopja tako pri mladincih kot tudi pri mladinkah na ravni petodstotnega tveganja ni statistično pomembna.
