Abstract | The purpose of the study was to evaluate the clinical performance of a new composite resin formulation, having the mechanical characteristics of a hybrid composite and the aesthetic qualities and polishability of a microfill, when used for Class I-V restorations and facial veneers. A total of 148 restorations placed by a single clinician according to standardised clinical procedures were assessed at baseline, 3 months and 1 year using modified Ryge criteria. The evaluative parameters included: colour match, marginal discolouration, marginal integrity, secondary caries and pre- and postoperative sensitivity. A retention rate of 98.4 per cent was established 3 months after placement. The study demonstrated good handling properties, high polishability and acceptable clinical performance of the new restorative material. | |
