Abstract     Arterial hypertension and obesity are very common risk factors for developing vaskular and heart deaseases. These deaseases are the main causes of death in developed world as well as in Slovenia. In this study I wanted to check if also in Slovenia urban population is more endangeured then rural. I analysed blood preassure and body weight at 150 patients in my office. I compared my resaults with the resaults of my colleague who works in the office with rural population. The resaultes show some diffrences but it was not statisticaly significant. In both offices we found out very low percentige with normal body weight (Črnuče 23%, Škofljica 20%) and on the other side we found out very high percentige of patients with high blood preassure (Črnuče 62%, Škofljica 60%). Resaultes show that people in Slovenia are not well informed about risk factors, therefore they are not motivated enough for changing their way of life style. There should be more health care education at all levels of the society.
