Abstract     Some congenital anomalies are rather common lesions of the neck. Careful history and physical examination with other diagnostic measures establish diagnosis. Congenital anomalies of the neck tend to become enlarged and infected and therefore surgery at an erly convenient time is generally recommended. When this lesion become infected, subsequent surgical removal can be very difficult. Brief suggestions, diagnostic steps, surgical approaches and pitfalls are mentioned in the article. Total excision is the method of treatment of congenital neck anomalies. The surgeon must be familiar with anatomy of the neck, embryology and pathogenesis of the lesions so that intra and postoperative complications can be avoided. Meticulous dissection will prevent recurrences.
