Abstract		The access to information is critical for the scientific development. Information is being shared in the process of scientific communication. Scientific journals have an important role in this process. The article presents the concept of scientific publishing in the past and summarizes the developments after the introduction of new information technologies, transition to electronic journals and thus occurring changes in relationship among partners in the publishing process. The article examines how these changes will affect libraries and their users.
