Abstract		Total hip replacements (THR) which have been used in the last three decades in orthopaedics are made almost exclusively from metal femoral stem and polyethylene acetabular cup. The lifetime of THR is affected by a number of factors among which the most important is the process of aseptic loosening. It is primarily related to the wear of polyethylene cup. In order to avoid such a wear process today there is a revival of interest in THR designs including metal femoral stem and metal cup. In the paper some main characteristics of these implants are discussed.
Summary		V zadnjih treh desetletjih so se v ortopediji skoraj izključno uporabljali umetni kolčni sklepi, izdelani iz kovinskega femoralnega debla in polietilenske acetabulumske čašice. Njihova trajnostna doba je odvisna od številnih dejavnikov, med katerimi je najbolj pomemeben proces aseptičnega omajanja. Le-to je posledica obrabe predvsem polietilenske čašice. Da bi se tovrstni obrabi izognili, je danes ponovno zanimanje za umetne kolčne sklepe, izdelane iz kovinskega femoralnega debla in kovinske čašice. V prispevku bomo govorili o glavnih značilnostih tovrstnih protez.
