Abstract     Evaluation of red cell aloantibodies in the serum is important prior to the red cell transfusion, as it can cause haemolysis of transfused red cells, with adequate antigens. Therefore, we can only use in transfusion those ingredients of blood that contain no such antigens. Usually we choose the fastest kinds of red cell aloantibody screening methods, which can also determine most clinically significant antibodies. In the thesis we compared two different techniques for red cell aloantibody screening. With the gel test technique we detected red cell aloantibodies with 51 (96,2%) patients and pregnant women, with 37 (69,8%) of them we were able to identify the antibodies (or to make suspect of certain antibodies), and with 14 (26,4%) of them we were not able to identify the antibodies. With 2 (3,8%) patients no antibodies were detected. With affinity test we detected red cell aloantibodies with 44 (83,0%) patients and pregnant women, with 21 (39,6%) of them we were able to identify the antibodies (or to make suspect of certain antibodies), and with 23 (43,4%) of them no identification was possible. With 9 (17,0%) patients and pregnant women no antibodies were detected. From these results we conclude that the gel test technique is more sensitive and more applicable than the affinity test technique.
