Abstract | The aim of our study was to determine if perifollicular vascularity of the dominant follicle in unstimulated cycles could be used to recognize cycles with a fertilizable oocyte, its potential to develop to the blastocyst stage and to recognize conception cycles prior to follicular aspiration. We performed follicular aspiration in 255 unstimulated cycles. Prior to follicular aspiration, a PWD assessment of perifollicular vascularity was performed and follicles were classified into 5 types according to the percentage of the follicular wall in which blood flow was discovered. No statistically significant difference was found in the distribution of the types of perifollicular vascularity between cycles with and without fertilization, cycles with and without blastulation and between conception and nonconception cycles. | |
