Abstract		Despite all efforts to reduce the production of municipal waste in the Republic of Slovenia, the amount of municipal waste is growing every year. Estimations are showing that about 10 Mio m 3 of waste is disposed yeary on unregulated refuse dumps (8). In this seminar I presented the legislation for the area of municipal waste in the Republic of Slovenia, possible sources for the pollution of soil and air and also some measures for the protection against air pollution at landfills. In the summary are proposals for some possible solutions for these problems. In my opinion it is also very obstructive, that despite an information system for the protection of environment, which is still at the starting level, that we don't have enough quality information..
