Abstract		The author gives a survey of urinary tract bacterial infections in infants and small children. He outlines the corresponding terminology and presents the incidence, etiology and clinical picture of these infections. He stresses the importance of accurate diagnosis based on proper urine collection and the need for prompt therapy, especially in the first year of life. There follows a description of morphologic studies and function tests done after infection and presents a modern algorithm which enables the clinicial to ac9uire as many data sa possible with the least strain imposed upon the child.
