Abstract     The idea of the article is to represent an outline plan of the project for improving health of the employed population in the Celje region as well as the implementation of the exercise and healthy nutrition campaign on the example of the employees in the company Elkroj Mozirje. In the Celje area a negative tendency towards increased absenteeism from work for health reasons has been observed for quite a long time. Besides injuries and diseases of the muscular and skeletal systems, the diseases of the circulatory system appear as the frequent cause of absence from work. The information we gathered in this respect encouraged us to take up contact with the employers and to offer to them our health promotion programmes as a possibility of reducing the indicators of the negative state of health of their employees. Within the period of three years we intend to establish contacts with the employers to such an extent that 10% of the Celje region working population would be included into our health-educational campaigns planned. We wish to educate the employees in the importance of both physical activity as well as healthy nutrition for their health. With the employers we shall settle upon a plan of encouraging physical activity in their respective organizations. We shall offer to organize a school of non-smoking as well as to educate female employees in breast self-examination. In this way we wish to reduce the risk of disease development and thus the number of sick-leaves recorded. The choice of healthier lifestyle can bring significant improvement to the health of the employed. By promoting health among the employees and the employers we would like to encourage the employees to take better care of their own health and thus feel better and prove more efficient at work.
