Abstract		This case concerns a 28-year-old male patient repeatedly treated for recurrent bacterial inflammation of thyroid gland in the period between 1997 and 1999 at our outpatient Department for Thyroid Diseases. We found it necessary for the patient to be surgically explored with incision and drainage. On the basis of all known facts we assumed that the cause of the inflammation was a pathological communication between the thyroid gland and pharynx or oral cavity.
