| Abstract | Headache as a symptom appears in connection with different diseases. For hundreds of years, migraine has been described in connection with the consumption of certain foods. With the recognition of the mechanism of allergic reactions, migraine was proposed to be an allergic disease. The higher frequency of allergic diseases (asthma, rhinitis and eczema) in migraine is chiefly confirmed by epidemiological studies. The family predisposition to allergy in migraine and especially the increased association of asthma and migraine headache in children of mothers with migraine is explained. Results of the latest studies did not support an obvious immunological mechanism that explained the onset of migraine with allergic inflammation. Immediate pharmacological substances and the influence of disturbed function of the limbic-hypothalamic system at the onset of the headache, especially migraine, are clear. The possibility that food allergy is the cause of migraine headache is therefore small. | |
| Summary | Glavobol se kot simptom pojavlja v povezavi z različnimi boleznimi. Že stoletja posebej opisujejo migrensko obliko glavobola po zaužitju določene hrane. Glede na poznavanje mehanizma alergijskih reakcij so predpostavljali, da je migrena oblika alergije. Epidemiološke študije potrjujejo, da so pri migreni pogostejše alergijske bolezni (astma, rinitis, ekcem). Omenjajo družinsko nagnjenost k alergiji pri migreni, pri otrocih mater z migreno pa pogostejšo astmo in migrenski glavobol. Z zadnjimi študijami niso potrdili imunskega mehanizma, ki bi pojasnil pojav migrene z alergijskim vnetjem. Poznane so samo farmakološko aktivne snovi (zaužite z določeno hrano) in vpliv motene funkcije limbično-hipotalamičnega sistema na pojav glavobola in posebej migrene. Verjetnost, da je prav alergija na hrano vzrok za migrenski glavobol, je torej majhna. | |
