Abstract     The article consists of two parts. In the first one the author exposes theoretical contents about ethics and nursing care important to understand the meaning of nursing ethics. Nursing is declared ethical discipline. Responsibility, empathy and trust are basic elements of caring relationship. The second part includes quantitative analysis of answers exposed in a research among Slovene nurses with the results, conclusions and commentary. The answers stressed the importance of ethics in nursing, ethical principles respect, some points of view to individual rights and euthanasy, participation in voluntary human organisations and the willingness to donate organs after death.
